About the Plains Hotel
The Plains Hotel is an historic, boutique hotel in Cheyenne, Wyo., featuring 131 guest rooms and suites elegantly appointed with Western high-style décor. Distinctive, classic architecture is enriched with the colors, textures, and natural materials of the Wyoming Plains, celebrating the rich legacy of the American frontier and offering a glimpse into the spirit of the West. The Plains Hotel is professionally operated by Providence Hospitality Partners, LLC in Denver, Colo.
Built in 1911, the Plains Hotel has long been the icon of the elegant High Plains lodging and dining experience, and a favorite of presidents, movie stars and cattle barons. It was the social hub of Wyoming’s capitol city, catering to the state’s early captains of industry. The Plains afforded its special hospitality to leading members of government, politics, civic activities and the arts, and offered simple but elegant accommodations for travelers on their way to the Black Hills, Yellowstone National Park, and the Grand Tetons. The Plains Hotel has been recognized by the National Park Service on the list of National Register of Historic Places.
The hotel completed a multi-million dollar renovation in 2003, adding modern conveniences and special touches such as custom-designed furniture and bed coverings with a cowboy high-style decor. The guest rooms feature oversized desks, 27” televisions, and thick, terry cloth towels. Thirty luxurious parlor and two-room suites also offer living rooms with sofa beds, spacious closets, wireless and high-speed internet access, plush, cotton bathrobes, and more.
Two on-site restaurants provide convenient dining options. The Capitol Grille, open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and room service, features the finest, fresh, local ingredients, including high-quality, naturally tender, Wyoming beef products, all prepared by the executive chef and his staff. Reminiscent of a General Store from the old West, the Trail Coffee Shoppe serves freshly baked pastries, salads, homemade sandwiches, and Arbuckles’ Ariosa Coffee.
