Chief Little Shield Descendants and Rattlesnake Jake
to Perform at the Historic Plains Hotel
March 6, 2006 -Cheyenne, WY... Descendants of Arapahoe Chief Little Shield and cowboy poet, Rattlesnake Jake will perform at the historic Plains Hotel on Saturday, March 11 in celebration of the hotel's 95th birthday. This event is FREE and open to the public.
Chief Little Shield has long been associated with the hotel and is depicted in the Plains Hotel logo. Chief Little Shield was known for his personality, good looks and oratorical abilities. He was both a warrior and a peace maker, and a frequent visitor to the Plains Hotel. The original painting used in the logo can still be viewed in the main lobby, along with a hand-tinted J.E. Stinson photograph in the Trail Coffee Shoppe.
Regina Little Shield, a descendant of Chief Little Chief, will perform with her group of Native American dancers and musicians at 1:00 PM and again at 5:00 PM. She will also be available to autograph history books.
Cowboy storyteller and accomplished musician, Rattlesnake Jake, will also be on hand playing guitar, accordion, gut-box and piano. His shows are always full of surprises and humorous versions of historic events in Cheyenne.
Before or after the show, stop by the Capitol Grille restaurant to sample food selections right off the original 1911 menu at prices from yesteryear.
