About Us
Some history
Since 1911, The Historic Plains Hotel has watched from its perch on Central Ave. as Cheyenne
transformed from a windy outpost on Wyoming’s plains to a charming yet cosmopolitan town blessed with great museums, art galleries, restaurant, shopping, parks and more. Originally built to host visiting celebrities, dignitaries, business titans and other luminaries, the hotel, among its many other luxuries, was the first to have a phone in every room. It was a place where the dust from the road was washed away in the hotel bar, cattle deals were sealed with a handshake over dinner and the city’s elite gathered for grand weddings & celebrations.
The Hotel today welcomes Cheyenne travelers with modern perks like dog-friendly rooms,
complimentary Wi-Fi, and the same level of refined service that has allowed us to remain among Cheyenne’s best hotels for over a century.
Located near the top attractions, shopping and nightlife in downtown Cheyenne, WY, we’re the ideal
choice for guests seeking a genuinely locally inspired travel experience.
